Compensation and Benefits Survey Each year, the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) develops the Compensation & Benefits Survey. Included in the survey is data on over 175 job titles, including detailed compensation information, broken down by a variety of factors, including budget size, geographic location, field of service and number of employees managed. In addition, the Survey contains summarized information about compensation practices, insurance and retirement benefits, and time-off practices. Glendale Healthier Community Coalition The Coalition plans and implements projects which promote disease prevention, health education, clean and safe environments, adequate housing, affordable and quality education and community revitalization for the City of Glendale. GuideStar's Nonprofit Economic Survey asked nonprofit staff how their organizations fared financially during the first nine months of 2008 compared to the first nine months of 2007. Results from this survey include that the number of nonprofits reporting decreased contributions nearly doubled in 2008. In addition, almost half of nonprofits relying on year-end gifts expect donations to decline during the last quarter of 2008 compared to the last quarter of 2007. Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles is California's oldest and largest legal services program. As a Los Angeles law firm for people with low incomes, LAFLA promotes access to justice. strengthen communities, combat discrimination, and effect systemic change through representation, advocacy, and community education. Client services range from generating affordable housing and helping people move from welfare to work to providing eviction defense, relief from domestic violence, and assistance with employment disputes. Los Angeles County Department of Public Health SPA 2 LA County is divided into eight Service Planning Areas (SPAs) for the purpose of delivering health care. The San Fernando Valley is SPA 2 (it also includes the Santa Clarita Valley, but does not include Burbank). SPA 2 conducted a community needs assessment in 2004, and published a report on the social, cultural, health and economic status of Valley residents. It and other information may be downloaded from:

Mobilizing Change: 10 Nonprofit Policy Proposals to Strengthen U.S. Communities is the Aspen Institute's compilation of proposals from leading thinkers in the nonprofit sector who are working to address social problems and improve the lives of those in need through improved nonprofit/government policies. The report summarizes each proposal and explains how it would work, who would be affected, and what actions are required to make it happen. Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County provides free legal services to low-income residents. The organization's advocacy is directed towards both the needs of the individual client requesting legal assistance, and to clients who seek to enforce the broader rights of the low-income community. Nonprofit Almanac 2008 examines the important role nonprofit organizations play in the national economy. The publication presents comprehensive data on trends in nonprofits for wages, employment, private giving, volunteering, and finances; and it includes an analysis of these data targeted to researchers, nonprofit leaders and policymakers. Partners in Care Foundation Partners and its collaborators develop high-impact, cost-effective and sustainable innovations in healthcare for the San Fernando Valley and other regions. Among its numerous areas of interest are creating “medical homes” for uninsured working poor people, senior health services, medication management, and elementary school physical education/obesity prevention. Public Counsel is dedicated to advancing equal justice under law by delivering pro bono legal services to indigent and under- represented children and adults throughout Los Angeles County, ensuring that community-based organizations serving this population have legal support, and mobilizing the pro bono resources of local attorneys and law students. The organization also works to enhance the delivery of legal services through involvement in public policy discussions and community education, and undertakes direct representation as co-counsel or amicus in selected impact matters. Valley Care Community Consortium VCCC is a health and mental health planning collaborative for residents of the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys. VCCC strives to create seamless and better-coordinated health care delivery system for low-income and uninsured residents in SPA 2. VCCC evaluates the community’s health needs and provides a semi-annual Community Needs Assessment, available in PDF format from its website. Valley Leadership Institute VLI educates and prepares future public and private sector leaders in the San Fernando Valley, with a nine-month educational program. Participants gather once a month for programming oriented to education, transportation, environment, crime & justice and other subjects. For more information: www.valleyleadershipinstitute.com.
YouTube Nonprofit Program provides nonprofits with the opportunity to tell their stories and connect with current and potential supporters, volunteers, and donors. Through the program, nonprofit organizations can be part of a designated "Nonprofit" channel on YouTube, delivering messages to the world's largest online video community.
